Frequently asked questions

How long has Highroad Roofing been in business?

We’ve been in business since 2005! We were originally named “Stockton Roofing” but rebranded to Highroad Roofing. We’ve kept our same owners and values after the rebrand.

Do you provide free estimates and inspections?

Yes! We offer complimentary inspections and estimates. There is never any obligation to work with us after we perform a roof inspection.

Will you actually get on my roof during the inspection?

Yes— you’d be surprised by how many roofing contractors won’t even get on the roof to take a look at the damage! We always perform up-close, hands-on inspections to get a clear understanding of what’s actually causing problems on your roof.

What areas do you serve?

We’re based in Fort Collins, CO, and Laramie, WY, and serve the greater Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming areas.

Do you install gutters and skylights?

Yes, if you need new gutters or want to install a skylight on your roof, we’re happy to provide those services.

Can you perform a siding replacement?

Yes, in addition to roofing, we’re also able to install new siding.

What are signs that I need to replace my roof?

If your roof is over 20 years old and has missing or damaged shingles, granule loss, damaged flashing, leaks, or ice dams, it’s likely time for a roof replacement.

What roofing materials can you install?

Asphalt shingles are the most common roofing material for residential homes, but we can also install metal panels, composite shingles, and flat roofing materials.

When do I need a roof repair?

You need roof repair when an isolated part of your roof is compromised. One section of your roof can become damaged due to hail, severe storms, and other factors. Roof repair can help you save money when roof replacement isn’t necessary. Missing or damaged shingles, broken flashing, and leaks are a few signs of a roof that needs repair. However, it is always best to get your roof inspected by a roofing contractor to guarantee that roof repair is the right choice for you.

What is the difference between roof repair and replacement?

Roof repair is best described as isolated repair to one part of your roof. Sometimes an accident, storm, or targeted wear-and-tear can cause one part of your roof to need special attention. Roof replacement, on the other hand, is best when your entire roof is in need of repair and/or it is nearing the end of your roof’s warranty.

How much does roof repair cost?

The cost of repairing your roof depends on the extent of the damage. For this reason, if you notice that your roof is in need of repair, it is best to call us for a free inspection right away. This will ensure that no further damage or more extensive damage to your home occurs. Getting an inspection in no way obligates you to use our roof repair service. We are happy to serve you!

What should I look for in a roofing contractor?

Anyone can get up on a roof. However, our roofing contractors offer years of experience and their expertise to help you decide what’s best for your roof. They are also insured and certified to protect you — and us. All of our roofers have been background-checked and drug-tested. What’s more, when you choose Highroad Roofing, you can rest assured that you will get the highest quality of materials and labor, and a personal experience.

How long should a roof last?

A roof should typically last 20-25 years, depending on the warranty of your roof as well as the quality of materials, installation, and other factors such as wear and tear from wind and hail. A roof sometimes needs to be replaced sooner than its warranty, but generally, most roofs must be replaced once they have met or exceeded their warranty. To learn when might be the best time to replace your current roof or how long your new roof should last, talk to our roofing contractors. We would love to answer any questions you may have and can provide better guidance after our free inspection of your roof.

Does a new roof help with energy efficiency?

Yes it does! A new roof can help to seal your home and avoid moisture and air leaks that can have a negative effect on your home’s temperature. Also, the color of your roof can affect the energy efficiency of your home. A lighter roof will reflect heat and be cooler, while a darker roof will absorb more of the heat. Though there are many other factors that can affect your home’s energy efficiency, a new roof can definitely contribute.

How much will a new roof cost?

It depends. A new roof, on average, will cost $8,000. However, the range of how much your roof replacement will cost can be anywhere between $3,000 to $45,000. The cost of roof replacement will depend on:

  • The size of your home
  • Your home’s roof pitch
  • Your roof’s decking
  • Your chosen roofing materials
  • Any additional damage that needs repairs
  • Your area’s code requirements

To get the best idea for how much your new roof will cost, schedule a free inspection with Highroad Roofing. Our roofing company puts our customers first in everything we do and would love to help you understand how much your new roof will cost you.

What is included in a roof replacement?

Though it may vary from roofer to roofer, generally, you can expect us to get rid of your home’s old shingles and any other used or old parts. We will also prepare the surface of your roof by replacing any damaged roof decking and installing underlayment, flashing, and other elements. Once your roof is ready, we will then install your new shingles or roofing material. To understand what is included in your roof replacement services, ask our expert roofing contractors.

What should I do if I think I have hail damage on my roof?

One of the first things you can do after the storm is inspect your roof. There is no need to get on your roof — we encourage you not to! You can inspect your roof from the ground; look for missing shingles, dents, dings, and cracks, as well as any shingles laying on the ground. However, this isn’t necessarily. You can just call the roofers at Highroad Roofing to take a look at your roof. We can help you determine the best next steps for your roof.

How big does hail need to be to cause damage?

The state of your roof as well as the size of the hail can affect how much damage your roof incurs after a severe storm. A roof that is already in need of repair or replacement will suffer greatly during a severe hail storm. Any size of hail will put wear and tear on your roof. However, hail the size of an inch and larger can cause damage to your roof.

How does hail damage roofs?

Hail can cause damage to any roofing material, including some of the toughest on the market. Hail can strip asphalt shingles of their granules — even causing some shingles to fall completely off the roof — splinter wood shingles, and even crack and loosen slate shingles. Hail can damage the material on your roof and, if exposed, break other elements as well such as the flashing. It can also cause water damage to your home.

Are you fully licensed and insured?

Yes, we’re fully licensed and insured in Colorado and Wyoming.

Will you work with my insurance company?

Yes, if you file an insurance claim for roof damage, we’ll work with you and your insurer along the way.

Do you offer financing?

Yes! You can apply for financing through our partner Enhancify. This allows you to make low monthly payments on your project.

Can I finance just a portion of my project?

Absolutely. You can utilize financing for as much or as little as you need.

What warranties do you offer?

We provide an unconditional 5-year labor warranty on all our roof replacements. “Unconditional” means that it doesn’t matter when we installed your roof— if something goes wrong, we’ll be back to fix it. No questions asked.
